Review of WLMarketing’s Directory Submission Service (Part 2)

To be  fair about things I gave WLMarketing the benefit of the doubt. I asked them the following question:

“By now, you have reportedly submitted my site to several hundred directories. Some of them have accepted the site and some have not.

However, when I type in link:www.entrepreneurssuccessjournal.com in the google toolbar I get the following message:

Your search – link:www.entrepreneurssuccessjournal.com – did not match any documents.

I cannot find even one other link to my site from any of the work you claim to have done. Additionally, I have seen absolutely no change in page rank. How do you account for this?”

WLMarketing’s response:

Hi Doug,

We’ve submitted to around 1000 directories so far.

The link command on Google has long been broken and doesn’t really show you the links to your site.

It’s much better to monitor via yahoo site explorer:

http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http://www.entrepreneurssuccessjournal.com&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=u

For example, here’s a few links that were picked up:

http://www.everycater.co.uk/index.php?c=372

http://www.allforblog.com/index.php?p=d

Also, directories do take up to 3 months to approve/deny your listings and then a bit more before search engines fully crawl those links.

Would recommend just monitoring via yahoo and also your keyword ranking positions.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

I will give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a while before passing judgment. I will follow up with the final post on this in a month or so.

If you have a site and find the information on my site useful do me a favor and link back to me.

Thanks so much for this helpful experiment. The fact that they would even think of sending it to a porn site is scary to me. Don’t think I’ll be using them for directory submissions unless your Part 3 changes my mind!
