Okay, if you aren’t using WordPress for your websites you are making things harder than they have to be. Wordpress is officially a blogging engine. But really Wordpress is a tool that lets you create whole websites on the fly.

Some people call WordPress a light content management system (CMS) but it can really be extended far beyond what most people would consider a light CMS. I have used all kinds of CMS over the years including Joomla, Mambo, Drupal, AlstraSoft, SocialEngine, Boonex Dolphin, and many more and as far as I am concerned, WrodPress just kills the others.

What am I saying? Okay, look. Basically…WordPress enables people who don’t know much about web development to get up and running with their own websites fast.

You can either download WordPress and host it on your own server. Or, you can signup for a free WordPress account and begin blogging immediately. And…you can always export your free WordPress blog later when your site grows to the point you want to host things on your own.

WordPress is incredibly easy and flexible and can be scaled to accomdate nearly any usage model from paid memberships, to ecommerce platforms, to social networking sites and more.

Here are a few of the sites I have used WordPress on:

If you are thinking about installing WordPress on one of your domains but have been confused about how to do it. Watch this short screencast video and I’ll show you exactly how to do it.

P.S. Stay tuned. This is the first of a series where I am going to cover all kinds of WordPress related topics including extending WordPress with plugins and performing your own customizations.

Enjoy. Oh yeah, if you want me to cover something special, make sure to leave a comment and i’ll try and help you out.

Thanks for posting this tutorial. I have been hiring people to do my installs, but it looks really easy.

I didn’t realize WordPress was so versatile though.

I’m looking forward to your other posts on the topic.
